Copperband Butterflyfish
Got another fish today, making it a record setting three new fishes for the weekend! The Copperband Butterflyfish has always been one of the most beautiful reef aquarium fish in my head, but apparently it’s a notoriously picky eater and some have been known to eat polyps. I wanted one but never thought I would get one. Today, I said screw it! Bought one at a great price. After yesterday’s realization that I should have put the new fishes in a separate containment tank for two weeks to prevent the spread of possible diseases from the fish store to my Red Sea Max 250. Filled up my 14 gallon BioCube, added a piece of live rock, drip acclimatized the Copperband Butterflyfish and added.

Man, this fish is beautiful. It also seems smart. It will come towards me when I approach the tank and follow my hand. It’s mouth is really small, so no pellets or flakes for this guy. I’ll keep him in the containment tank for a while. I see a white spot on one fin and I hope it’s not Ick.
